Getting Started

Install, Uninstall or Update IO Libraries Suite

IO Monitor is included in the Keysight IO Suite and is automatically installed as part of the Keysight IO Libraries Suite. Refer to the readme.htm file, which is available at the following locations:

  • Navigate to the IO Libraries suite page, under the Trials and Licenses tab, select the readme.
  • From IO Control > Documentation > IO Libraries Suite Readme.

Launch Interactive IO

There are two methods to launch IO Monitor:

  • From the Application Finder:

    • Open the Application Finder on your Linux machine.
    • Search for Interactive IO under the application section.
    • Click to launch the application.
  • Using a Web Browser:

    • Open your preferred web browser.
    • Enter the URL in the format: https://<IP Address of the machine where IO Libraries Suite is installed>:4213.
    • For example: https://10.17.68.235:4213.
  • Ensure that your web browser supports HTTPS connections and is configured to allow access to locally hosted web applications.

  • If the browser keeps loading the page without progressing, try clearing the cookies.

Secure Access and Certificate Configuration

To access IO Monitor over a secure HTTPS connection, a trusted certificate must be configured. You can either use the default self-signed certificate or create a locally trusted certificate.

Default Self-Signed Certificate

If a locally trusted certificate is not configured, IO Monitor automatically generates a self-signed certificate for HTTPS. When accessing Interactive IO for the first time from a client machine, your web browser will display a security warning.

To proceed:

  1. Click the Advanced button on the warning page.

  2. Select Proceed to [IP Address] to open Interactive IO.

Even after accepting the certificate, the browser may continue displaying a warning symbol in the address bar. However, the connection remains secure.

If this is not acceptable for your environment, installing a locally trusted certificate will eliminate the warning.

Ensure that your web browser allows self-signed certificates or is configured to trust locally installed certificates to prevent security warnings.

IO Monitor Quick Start

If you have one or more instruments connected to your PC and these instruments are recognized in Keysight's Connection Expert, you can begin using IO Monitor in just a few simple steps:

  1. On the IO Monitor screen, select the Start button.
  2. Click the Refresh button in Connection Expert. Watch as the I/O messages generated by the refresh operation appear on the IO Monitor display.
  3. When finished, click the Stop button on the IO Monitor display.

IO Monitor is that easy to use. Click a link below to learn about other features that make IO Monitor an excellent utility for monitoring and troubleshooting instrument I/O in your test and measurement  programs.

Important Considerations

  • IO Monitor is not a performance measuring tool, because the IO Monitor itself affects performance.
  • Only one session of IO Monitor can run at any time per machine.
  • When monitoring for long periods of time when message volume is high, IO Monitor may lose messages.
  • When monitoring SICL and/or SICL Detail, IO Monitor may monitor, display, and/or log many messages from the Keysight Instrument Discovery Service. To reduce the number of messages, turn off the SICL and SICL Detail options. See Changing IO Monitor Settings for details.
